A little while ago I was going through a difficult time, but that’s life…we get some good, some bad and some in-the-middle kind of stuff. It’s just how it is. But, through this hard time I am actually seeing God do some amazing things. Things are coming to the surface in me….the hidden, not so good stuff. The weird thing is, I’m actually a bit excited about it. Now to those of us that call ourselves Christians, you’ll know what I’m talking about. God allows some things to come into our lives that are unpleasant, uncomfortable and sometimes just plain heart-wrenching. He’s allowing it to “stretch” us, to show us areas in our lives that need to be changed and make us grow stronger through the trials. I am being reminded too, that I must keep my mind from dwelling on my troubles, and to stop talking about them. It just adds fuel to the fire, so to speak. And no…it’s not an easy thing to do, but when my thoughts get the better of me I run to the Word (usually the Psalms). I find comfort there, guidance, wisdom, and peace. Soon I gain back my faith that was faultering. Encouragement sets in. I feel stronger…able to face another day. It’s amazing how the Word has that kind of power. But of course…”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” (John 1: 1-2).
